Join the VEB Team

We are looking for current Humber students with excellent problem solving, teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills. Our team members are hard-working, adaptable, and willing to manage challenging workloads and tight deadlines, as well as being open to learning new things with minimum direction.

Hours are flexible, students are expected to attend meetings with their client(s) and team at the Lakeshore campus, or off campus as needed.

Progress meetings with the whole VEB team will be scheduled twice a semester to discuss progress, share news, brainstorm ideas, discuss challenges, solve problems, make decisions, and collectively plan next steps. The following team meetings are planned for 2018/2019 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM:

  1. Fall Kick-off meeting: Saturday Sept 8, 2018 (week 1)
  2. Fall Progress meeting: Saturday Nov 10, 2018 (week 10)
  3. Winter Progress meeting: Saturday Jan 19, 2019 (week 2)
  4. Winter Wrap-up meeting: TBA

We are currently recruiting students to join our 2018/2019 team, interviews will take place during May/June for the following positions:

Research Assistant – WordPress Development

  • Create websites, blogs, and online content using WordPress
  • Provide training and documentation to the client on how to update their website
  • Students are expected to have access to the necessary software to complete their task

Research Assistant – Graphic Design

  • Develop graphics for websites and social media, such as logos, banners, as well various promotional material as needed
  • Students are expected to have access to the necessary software to complete their task

Research Assistant – Photography

  • Product and/or people photography, behind the scenes images
  • Students are expected to own their own equipment or have access to the equipment through their school
  • Students are expected to have access to the necessary software to complete their task

Research Assistant – Videography

  • Video production and editing for short interviews or promotional videos
  • Students are expected to own their own equipment or have access to the equipment through their school
  • Students are expected to have access to the necessary software to complete their task

Research Assistant – Professional Writing & Communications 

  • Content creation for a variety of online platforms (website, blog posts, social media) through researching, writing, editing, proofreading
  • Students are expected to have access to the necessary software to complete their task

In addition to the above technical skills, Research Assistants are expected to:

  • Collaborate with clients, team members, and faculty lead in meetings, emails, and on
    the phone to ensure smooth progress of the project
  • Brainstorm and come up with e-commerce solutions with both the client and team
  • Learn new concepts, tools, software, and techniques as needed to improve deliverables
  • Budget, manage, and track time worked on each project
  • Use software applications as needed to communicate and track project progress (e.g. MS. Excel, Google Docs, Slack)
  • Collaborate on creating meeting documents as needed (agenda, minutes…etc)
